About Murray Farms

Murray Farms is a small, pasture-based farm set amongst the rolling hills of Monroe County outside Norwalk, Wisconsin.

The idea to start a farm came about in the summer of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, as we realized we desired more independence in both our lifestyle and the food we ate. In the process, we decided we wanted to be able to produce food for others as well, and Murray Farms was born.

Although neither of us can claim to be farmers prior to this venture, we both have farming in our blood. Melissa grew up on a dairy farm, and both of my grandfathers were also dairy farmers by trade.

We decided we wouldn’t pursue dairy farming, but saw beef, chickens, eggs, and honey production as more viable options. As the concept for the farm grew, we also realized that, in order to succeed, our farm had to be lean and efficient. Each piece of the farm had to support the others, and this philosophy drives how we run things on our property.
